We are happy to introduce Lynda Murphy as the new Project Manager for The HUB!

Since 2018, The HUB, a free digital resource directory and referral platform, has served as an important tool to connect local nonprofit health and social service providers and community members in Chicago, west suburban Cook County, and southeast DuPage County. The HUB is co-sponsored by the Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township, Community Memorial Foundation, Healthy Communities Foundation, and River Forest Township.

As The HUB’s footprint in these regions grows, Lynda will play a critical role in guiding The HUB’s roadmap, designed to strengthen community access to a wide range of health and human services and help people lead healthy, full, and resilient lives.

“Many times, what prevents people from accessing the support they need is simply not knowing where to go, who to contact, or how to make that first step,” Lynda said. “The HUB, as a resource tool for our local community, can help remove this barrier for so many people.”

She added, “I am excited to join the team and help build upon the foundation of The HUB to connect more community-based organizations, reach more community members and expand access to services. By building connections and removing barriers, I believe The HUB can be an integral piece in building a healthier, more equitable community.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the need for connection and increased awareness of local resources to address urgent, basic needs. “As our community is suffering from the negative consequences of a global pandemic, the importance of a tool like The HUB is only becoming more important,” she said.

In the past several years, Lynda worked on the Development Team at the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society, sponsors of the Children’s Clinic, and specialized in grant writing and management. Lynda earned a MA in Grant Writing, Management & Evaluation from Concordia University Chicago, and a MA in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Lynda is active in her local community, currently serving as the Vice President on the Riverside District 96 school board. In her free time, you will find her in the stands, cheering on her two teenage sons, with her husband, Mike.

Welcome, Lynda! We are so glad to have you on board!
