How to apply for a grant from The Fund for Greater Hartford
Before submitting an application, please review the guidelines of The Fund for Greater Hartford to be sure your proposal is appropriate for consideration. If there is any doubt as to the suitability of your request, please call the Fund office. Fund staff will be pleased to advise and assist any organization planning to apply for a grant of funds.
The Fund for Greater Hartford uses the attached application. (Click below to download a copy.)
Applicants are asked to observe the following:
- Please include a cover letter to introduce your organization and your proposal;
- Do not restructure the cover sheet form;
- Type and single-space all narrative materials, number pages, and observe the page limitation;
- Respond to all questions in the order listed;
- Date all financial materials;
- Submit one original copy of all application materials (no additional copies are needed);
- Do not bind the application packet.
In addition to the financial information requested on the form, please include a listing of the nature and value of any special funds, such as endowment, capital reserve, cash flow reserve, etc. In addition to the organizational information requested on the form, please include a program report for the latest completed year, indicating activities and number of persons served. You may include other information that you feel will clarify your request.
If your program seeks to benefit a specific population, such as an enhancement program in a school or school system, please include written verification from appropriate representatives (i.e. a school principal) that the program is wanted and will be worked into the beneficiary’s overall plan.
A simplified application form is available for summer programs.
Applications will be accepted at any time, but must reach The Fund for Greater Hartford by 3:00 p.m. on the quarterly deadline (March 15, June 15, September 15, December 15) to be considered at the next quarterly meeting.
